15 Nights of Halloween

Sunday, October 10th, 2010
This movie requires Flash Player 9

Ripley’s Haunted Adventure in Gatlinburg is starting its annual Fright Nights show with the new “Trick or Treat: 15 Nights of Halloween.”

The new show will be even scarier with all things Halloween. The Fright Nights shows run every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in October with five new and different shows and more scares. Start the journey with a ride up a rickety old freight elevator; and from there, rely only on sight, sound, touch, and even smell in the darkness and shadows. The amped up suspense comes from more scare-actors and the new themed surroundings. Due to the graphic nature of the haunted house (that was once the Grimsby & Streaper Casket Company) enter if you dare.

Experience every single scare and do it again! Fright Nights shows kick-off nightly at 6:13pm with a character parade. Confront your fears and see all 5 shows!

Tickets available with lodging reservations.

New Dollywood Ride- Barnstormer

Tuesday, September 14th, 2010

Early flight

New to Dollywood’s attractions is the $5.5 million Barnstormer ride, opening in March of 2011.

Barnstormer is named after the brave aerialists and stunt pilots of the 1920′s. The ride has 2 pendulum arms that seat 32 riders. The ride travels higher on each swing, reaching a speed of 45 mph and a rotation of 230 degrees.

Seated back to back, riders get an amazing view of the park at 81 feet in the air. Seated in the vintage style Barnstormer, the ride is situated among a big red barn that pays tribute to Dolly Parton’s family upbringing.

Including custom designed ADA seating, the height requirement for the Barnstormer is 48 inches.

Around the Barnstormer there is a children’s bi-plane play area and a pig pen water play area.

“I remember my daddy and granddaddy talking about the old barnstormers that used to do all kinds of crazy stunts above the fields where they’d work crops,” Dolly Parton said in a recent press release.

Dollywood has more than 40 rides and attractions. The 1 acre project is currently occupied by the Dreamland Forrest. Barnstormer is next to the Mountain Slidewinder. As one of most visited attractions in Tennessee, this new family thrill ride is sure to be a hit!
