Rumble in the Treetops

Lumberjack Cometition

For the 2010 season, Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede has added a new segment featuring two teams of lumberjacks, entitled “Rumble in the Treetops”.

The new addition to the long running Dixie Stampede Dinner Show is made up of four events:

  • Lumberjacks race to climb a 60′ log suspended from the ceiling
  • Two Man Crosscut – which team cuts through a log the fastest
  • Quickest Log Chop – lumberjack and his ax against another to chop through a log the quickest
  • Log Roll – Two lumberjacks balance on one log floating in a pool of water, and run in place, spinning the log. Who can keep their balance the longest?

In Dixie Stampede tradition the winner wins a “medal” for either the North or South, adding to the totals won by the competitive riders during the show. These races include wagon racing, barrel racing, pig racing and audience-participant horse races.

All of this, plus great songs and dance, and a fantastic meal including creamy vegetable soup, biscuit, cornish hen, pork loin, baked potato, and an apple fritter. Add in the unlimited drinks, and it’s no wonder Dixie Stampede is “ The Smokies Most Fun Place To Eat
