Titanic’s Ice Carving Competition

Ice Sculpting

The Titanic Museum Attraction in Pigeon Forge will be kicking off its 1st outdoor event with a major ice carving competition. The free, family themed event will be on Saturday, January 22nd of 2011. Everyone is invited to enjoy the competition between 9am and 4pm. Professionals and amateurs will be competing for great prize monies. Make sure to arrive early for the best views to watch the ice carvers in action. Ice carving events are educational and inspirational for everyone. Also, an official NICA judging panel will be in attendance and will announce the competition winners and award prizes at 3pm.

“This exciting event will be produced by Titanic Pigeon Forge under the auspices of the National Ice Carving Association,” Joslyn says. “Visitors will be invited to come to Titanic’s outdoor staging center and watch professional and amateur sculptors turn 250-pound blocks of ice into frozen works of art. Kids and parents can view sculptures in progress, talk to the artists and learn the secrets of championship ice carving from the experts.”

Gatlinburg’s New Year’s Eve Ball Drop and Fireworks

New Years Eve Celebration

Celebrate the New Year in the Smoky Mountains and join the party at Gatlinburg’s New Year’s Eve Ball Drop and Fireworks Show!

Thousands of party-goers will be in downtown Gatlinburg Friday night on December 31, at the base of the Space Needle. The party will begin hours before midnight with live musical entertainment and free party favors provided by Mr. Tablecloth. The live entertainment will be stationed on the balcony of the Gatlinburg Convention Center where a disc jockey will excite the crowd with music favorites throughout the night.

Watch the clock countdown to midnight on January 1, 2011 where the Gatlinburg Space Needle will be the highlight of the evening. Leave the past behind and define the New Year as the lighted ball drops and the flash of fireworks begin! The area will illuminate with brilliant colors from the surrounding rooftops while music is choreographed and synchronized into the show by the Pyro-Shows of LaFollette, Tennessee.

Christmas Parade

Friday, December 3: The Fantasy of Lights Parade in Gatlinburg, TN

The festivities will begin at 6pm with Santa’s Autograph Party at the Riverbend Mall. At 7:30pm, the Fantasy of Lights Parade begins as exciting entertainment takes to the streets. The parade will be featuring: light covered floats, marching bands, Budweiser Clydesdale’s, dance teams, huge helium balloons, artificial snow, and the grand finale of Santa Claus and his elves. Along the way, the parade will show off over 100 floats and an estimated 80,000 people will be crowding the sidewalks and balconies for the best view. Come early and join in the hour-and-a-half of fun at the Fantasy of Lights Parade!

The Parade Route: Starting at Traffic Light #1A on Highway 321 and continuing on to Traffic Light #10 at the Parkway and Ski Mountain Road.

Saturday, December 4: The Traditional Hometown Parade in Sevierville, TN

This year will be Sevierville’s 48th Christmas Parade!  Along with the beautiful Winterfest lights, spectators are invited to see the town come too life with wonderful holiday displays. The parade will be featuring: marching bands, cloggers, baton twirlers, beautifully decorated floats, pageant winners, horses, and then the grand appearance of Santa Claus and his family of elves. The Traditional Hometown Parade will begin at 11am, along with elves who will be ready to collect any toys that are being donated to Toys For Tots!

The Parade Route: Starting at the corner of Honey Street and Forks of the River Parkway, traveling North to Main Street and turning East on Court Avenue, the parade then travels South past the Sevier County Court House, and back to the First Baptist Church Parking Lot.
