2010 Independence Day

The 20th annual Patriot Festival headlined by Diamond Rio takes place July 3rd at Patriot Park with a fireworks show to follow. Then at midnight Gatlinburg's 35th annual Independence Day parade continues it's tradition as the first 4th of July parade in the nation. In Sevierville the Tennessee Smokies provide a spectacular fireworks show after their July 4th game against the Huntsville Stars.

Ripley’s Aquarium Plans for Penguins

Ripley’s Entertainment is planning a $5 million expansion to the popular Aquarium of the Smokies in Gatlinburg. The first permanent expansion to the facility in ten years will house about 20 African black-footed penguins. The indoor-outdoor Penguin Playhouse will hold 30,000 gallons of saltwater and include tunnels for visitors and penguins to view one another. [...]
